Default R180 diff backlash

Hi all, I think my R180 4.44 rear diff (V5 type r) has a bit of excess backlash as it knocks a bit on/off throttle at low speed, and now I have it out of the car there is a small amount of play in the prop input before the teeth engage and turn the diff. I have searched all over but can't find anything regarding how much backlash this diff should have - can anyone tell me (degrees/fractions of a mm etc.)?
Also, what would cause the backlash to change? The bearings seem fine, but the diff oil was pretty milky so I'm going to change the seals before I put the diff back in. Cheers

Yes I did find that eventually, cheers. In the end it took the diff to AS Performance, both driveshaft input and prop input were slightly out so they adjusted it all back into tolerance and gave it a health check. Great place.
