Dump valves bad???

I've heard that diaphragm dump valves cause massive fuelling probelems which the air filter cannot cope with and cause some serious damage to the engine and turbo. Is this true?? Anyone heard the same??

Doesn't make sense, unless it was setup incorrectly.
