Question

I have fitted a Pipercross cone filter to my car. Basically I removed the whole air box assembly and attached the filter to the end of the pipe. I now have a sound like a vacuum cleaner coming from the area. Is this what it's supposed to sound like?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Yes it is, you can probably hear a slight *psschht* when you dump boost on gear change also. This is a *cool* noise..or its very Max Power, depending what camp u r in.

Thumbs up

Cheers guys. That was a speedy response.
Good awareness from Avi, I do have a Sport. I bought it from another Sportster who had a rattling sound which worried him. Twas a bargain.
I'm pleased it's supposed to sound like that. Did get a little bit worried. Only fitted it yesterday so haven't really had a chance to test it properly yet but I am going away this afternoon so should be able to tell then.

Avi,
No it's not too bad and you probably wouldn't notice if you had the radio on etc. As is always the case, I was driving with the window down to see what it sounded like.

Isn't yours a Sport model tho' Stephen? Where did you get the filter?

It does sound like a vacuum cleaner, i removed my filter on my Sport when the car was idling, and it did it !

Is it really bad, as i was considering an induction kit myself.
Andy
