Possible solution for people suffering with diff whine
After fitting suspension to my car the other day I started getting a grinding noise on overrun and quite a bit of diff and road noise from the rear of the car also the odd knocking noise after lifting off.
After spending hours trying to track down what was causing it i found that the diff outrigger bush bracket had bent slightly and was causing the all the noise from the drivetrain to bypass the bush and be transmitted into the car.
Realised that I had used them to place the axel stands under while I replaced the suspension resulting them being bent out of shape.
After I re shaped them in a vice the car was super quite again.
Amazing how much noise was being transmitted through such a small area of metal.

You can see from the photo that by the bracket being out of shape it was resting on the bush carrier rather than being isolated by the bush.
I won't be using them as a jack point after my new ones arrive.

absolutely, I use the trolley jack with a large wooden block on the diff carrier/bracket in front of the diff then lower the car onto these brackets. Must check these next time I'm under the car...
Always amazes me why manufacturers don't provide proper rubber pads at these points, was impressed to find my old E46 M3 had them!
Thanks InTurbo

I checked my brackets in the works carpark and they look straight, I always position the jack stand in the middle of these brackets thankfully, so looks like I've avoided any bendage!
