gear box swap
So a few months ago I killed my 1999 turbo 2000 wagon and struggled to find a good engine at a fare price. I've just picked up a really nice forester with the plan of taking the engine out and dropping it into my wagon the thing is its an auto I'm guessing it's not to much to swap the back plate or bell housing to fit it to my wagon but the thing is I'm thinking of keeping the forester and swapping the auto for a manual will my wagon box fit the forester?

Hiya Craig mate.
Yes should fit no problem...I am not aware of anything that would prevent it fitting. I am assuming you are just changing the auto box out and swapping it for a manual yes? However, I don't think it is as easy as that...I mean the mechanical side isn't all of it. I could be wrong but I think the electronic side of it could be a bit of a ballache... there would be an ecu issue for starters...and the old business of it not starting cos it thinks it's permanently in 'D' when there is no 'D' to be in anymore LOL

It's over in the states and relates to a standard WRX auto to manual swap
