Well after all the various debates I cannot offer a very scientific or long term analysis.

However over recent months I have tried various motorsport oils - in extremis - i.e. driving on track.

The main three I have tried are Mobil 1 Motorsport 15/50 which has been used on the car for the past couple of years, Castrol RS 10/60 and MOTUL 15/50.

The MOTUL has been by far the most consistent in maintaining oil pressure - even on a really hot track day at the weekend. Out of the box - pressure was higher than with either of the other two oils. Mobil was the worst.

Also - the MOTUL has resulted in far less oil being collected in my newly fitted catch tank - again after track as well as road miles. Indeed the Mobil put more oil in to the catch tank on the road than the MOTUL did after serious track driving.

Trout, Motul 300V Competition 15W50 is what STI are rebadging as their "WRC" oil. Good to hear some confirmation that it is the right stuff. I would imagine sticking an STI label on the can will add more than a few bob.

Ken,

I have already stocked-up - 30l in the garage - at a unique price! And no, you can't have some!

I've been using this oil for the last year or more , talked to a rep at a local motorsport dealer when I was looking for oil and thought if it is good enough for the WRT , it is good enough for me . Also it smells nice

Trout,

Good one mate. Was there much difference between the Castrol and the Motul or were they close? I'm asking cos I use and have been using the Castrol from the beginning on my car and I usually like to keep to one brand. If there is a significant difference I will change.

Cheers,

Wrexy.

Quite a few of the Scottish owners recently did a group buy on this oil, and again got a very good price

Glad to hear that it's good stuff.
