Seriously BIG THANKS to all the Guys at Montys Sheffield service department, especially Paul Batty!

Briefly, I was having serious hot starting problems with the MY02 WRX wagon. The car would cough, then refuse to catch after leaving it for a while, following a run. On Friday it let me down for over two hours before it finally coughed into life - after the RAC bloke had pronounced it the only Scoob he'd ever seen broken down.....

Eventually managed to take it to Montys in Sheffield - great service Guys. friaday PM/Sat AM, they ran the usual diagnostic tests, and pronounced the car fit & well. Went to collect it, after a few hilarious miles in their Justy courtesy car, and got the same refusal to start problem. Spoke to Max the Clifford Dealer while at Montys, and Paul managed to get me started. Popped to see Max for a simple black box replacement (forgive me if I don't elaborate).

Hence thanks to Max for staying at work until I got to Leeds - then spending 2 hours of his time sorting me out. The guy's a star.

And the biggest bouquet to Montys service chaps for a second to none job under warranty. Hope the sight of a coughing and spluttering new Scoob didn't put off the punters on your open day! Paul, to make amends, I'll drop a line to your MD to tell him to double your salary Mate!

So, anyone in the South Yorks region looking for great warranty service at a moment's notice (Belgian car, registered with IM) - you know where to go!

Just a nice change to get service beyond the call of duty these days.

I always believe in praising people when they've done a good job - and criticising when things don't meet my expectations. That way I hope that others will benefit as well.....

Sounds like they've removed their head from their **** at last...
My initial impression of them after the 1k service fiasco was not favourable, sounds like they might be ok to try again.
Maybe they can sort out my CEL for me...Always willing to give someone a second chance!

BOB

PS Whats their stand point regarding mods and warrenty work?
ie back box changed

Hiya Bob - yes, I was very conscious of your Mazola Corn Oil experience, but Paul could't have been more helpful....

Put it this way - it's an import, they ran loads of tests, spent hours on it, and it turned out not to be a problem with the car as such. And they lent me a 'courtesy' car at a moment's notice (OK, it was a Justy, but so what!). And the cost? Not a penny.....

Yup, I know it was warranty work as such, but it wasn't even a Scooby related fault.

And remember, I gave then exactly five minute's notice..... Give 'em another try Mate - Paul even told me they'd written to all their customers about the oil incident!

Hi m8,
well they didn't write to me or my m8!
But anyway thats history now...

Glad to hear U got decent service from them.

I don't suppose U have any idea how they would view the addition of a TSL back box with regard to warrenty work? I've gotta get this CEL sorted out, keep meaning to refit my oem back box before I take it in, but never seem to get around to doing it. Would be nice if I could leave it on and take it in for the work!

Bob, I don't think they like mods. The sales guy who sold me my car told me a story of someone who had problems with an import. They had a look at his car but found out that he had fitted a modified ECU. They had to disclose this to IM for the warranty work and they refused point blank. It took a couple of weeks for Montys to receive the go ahead from IM so this guy was without his car. Needless to say IM refused after all that. IMHO I would put the standard box back on for the sake of 10 minutes work.

Cheers mate, thats wot I thought.

Have heard that some dealers turn a blind eye to mods...it depends on the dealers.
The garage I worked for a few years back were sensible about it... If it was obvious that the mod had caused the problem then we would inform warranty dept, but if it was unrelated, say an electrical problem on a car with modified exhaust, we said nothing!
Too many "jobsworth's" these days.(Disclaimer:Not saying Monty's are "jobsworth's")
