Talking JW Racing's New Logo - What d'ya think?

Just up loaded the new logo onto the website, because after almost 3 years I thought it might be time for a change!

Just wondering what you lot thought of it, as there will be window stickers and logos avaialble in due course, the old Fast and the Furious (DT) style logo was very popular, so I'm hoping you'll think this ones as striking?!

Please go to: www.j-w-racing.co.uk to see the new and old!

Jamie

Loose it and loose that $hitty Actinic catalogue (or get somebody to code it so that it looks decent). harsh, but true.

w3? Is that supposed to be "cool" or something?

If you insist on sticking with it, you could at least point the w3.j-w-racing.com URL to the same place as www.j-w-racing.com -- at the moment it doesn't resolve!

Deano - thanks for the "constructive" comments. Actinic works, so I don't think it's at all ****ty, plus there have been hundreds of hours gone into developing the site, and you're the first to say anything negative, but then again you probably know best! *Cough*

Carl - Yeah just trying to be cool, cos I have to. Think you'll find that www.j-w-racing.com goes to www.j-w-racing.co.uk so your point is?

As before, thanks to everyone who didn't feel the need to attack my efforts, as I didn't ask for anything other than comments on the new logo. Unfortunately there are alway a couple of really clever people who see the opportunity to show off their "knowledge" to everyone.

www.j-w-racing.co.uk and www.j-w-racing.com go to the same place, as you say. But the logo actually says "w3.j-w-racing.com". If you typed that into the URL bar, you'd get a DNS error.
w3.j-w-racing.com
See?

Yeah - obviously! :S As you say, its supposed to be cool - as in W to the power of three, but MOST people aren't stupid enough to type in w3.anysoddingurl.com are they?

Jamie, Actinic's standard templates look outdated. I know it works (I never said it didn't) but it does look $hit compared to the shopping cart on the Scoobymania website.

Whilst the new logo looks o.k, I think you overdo it with the drop shadow and the red stroke. Do I know best? Well I design for a living and you sell car spares, but hey... What do I know.

No offence.

De@no - no offence taken, its just that, I feel Actinic does everything I want it to do, and cost £1300 for the developer version, compared to a heck of a lot more for a hand written site. It's also very easy to add products, when dealling with the numbers I do, there are thousands of products on the site, so it makes life much easier. When only delaing with relatively few products, I'm sure a hand written site would become a lot more viable. But then again what do I know, I only sell car spares, but before that I was in operations management, design and marketing!

Whether it looks "****" or not is your opinion, but I get more than enough customers who state the site is very clear and easy to navigate, and looks cool too, so I'm happy!

Phil - Not tetchy, just responding to a comment that could be seen by some people as unhelpful.

Comments like "Is that supposed to be cool" and "If you insist on sticking with it, you could at least point the w3.j-w-racing.com URL to the same place as www.j-w-racing.com -- at the moment it doesn't resolve!" Don't help anyone, as the comments are silly, of course it's supposed to be cool, and what computer literate person would type in W3.blahblahblah.com in their browser?

I did ask for people's comments on the logo, and I apreciate that some people , lol sorry the majority don't like it, but I don't think I ever got "tetchy".

BLOODY HELL!! the guy asks a simple question - do u like my new logo and people take the oportunity to rip him to pieces. Nice! I like both logos but the new one is cool cos its got a more japanese type feel to it and seeing as the majority of cars are japanese....it fits.
As for his site, i had a quick browse earlier and i think its really good, its easy to use and has on all the info you need. I dont know much about this Actinic thing but as far as im concerned, if its not broke dont fix it.
Who in thier right mind would actually put "W3" in as part of an address??!!!! My 76 year old grandad even knows better than that!! And even he could work out what it means. As for cool, yes it is. Ive seen it on a couple of really funky sites already so im guessing its gonna catch on soon so...SHUT UP!

It really is the minority that gives the majority a bad name, no wonder a lot of people dont like scooby drivers if this how they give "constructive critisism".

How about this as being constructive....instead of being bitchy on here and creaming over your sub-standard japanese taxis (we all saw the clio now didnt we...)before you go to bed on a night,go and do something nice for someone.

Bye!

Never make the mistake of assuming all your customers are computer-literate. If I saw that URL I'd type it in like that, then when it didn't work I'd try www. Lots of people would never get to the second step. Not every server running an http host on port 80 has "www." at the start of the URL you know.

FFS, you asked for comments and I made a constructive one because I couldn't see whether there was something special about the w3 thing that I wasn't getting. You obviously own the j-w-racing.com domain so would it be so difficult to point the w3.j-w-racing.com subdomain at the same place as the www.j-w-racing.com one? It's not like you're using it for anything else, is it?

Next time I won't bother.
