Default best place for PFF7's

Is it possible to buy PFF7 wheels (18" Bright Flitter) from anywhere other than Subaru dealers. Their RRP is £450 each.

Alternatively may be intersted in Speedline Turinis but only picture I've seen is on Scoobyworld and it looks almost white.

Cheers

I looked into this about 6 months ago and couldn't find anywhere. The price you quote of £450 per wheel includes the Pirelli PZero Nero tyres. You can certainly get these tyres alot cheaper elsewhere, e.g. Black Circle, Mytyres.

I got my tyres from Micheldever Tyres in Hampshire for around £119 each.

Your best bet for the PFF7s is to organise a group buy with a Subaru dealer. Arron Bird did one back in January and we got four wheels for around £880. Overall the saving was over £100 per wheel and tyre!

Lemmy,
Do'h - yeah you're right about the price. Wheel only is £275.

Local Kwikfit will do 4 Goodyear F1 GSD3's 225/40x18 for £280 which I think comparew pretty well with Mytyres, etc.

I bought my PFF7's from my Subaru dealer for £275 - 10% SIDC discount, that's £990 for the wheels, then got the tyres from Blackcircles at the SIDC rate.
getting a group buy going on something as expensive as this is often very difficult, but you should at least get a discount on both items.
My son went to the same dealer with a price he had obtained from phoning around and the dealer beat it!

I got mine from the Dealer, I negotiated a 12% discount on the wheels and managed to get the latest Goodyear F1's for 95 pounds each .....................(and they are excellent tyres)

A question - the prodrive site lists the PFF7 as 18 x 8; yet the WR1 brochure lists the wheel size as 18 x 7.5JJ - is this an error or are the WR1's PFF's a non standard available size ?

I think an error maybe the WRX PFF-7's are 18x7.5 and STi's 18x8 .

Not certain but think they are et48 !! most "other" alloys have to use a 3mm spacer as not enough clearance between front Brembo Caliper and Wheel webs IIRC

There is only one size of P-FF7 and that is 8x18" ET51.
Small error in the WR1 brochure as I didn't get to proof it.

Not a bad price for GSD3s if it includes fitting, balancing and VAT. The PZero Neros, although slightly more expensive, are rated better by Evo magazine and Mike Wood. I have only done ~1500 miles on mine so it is difficult to judge their performance. There is certainly no sign of any "tramlining" and the ride is definately better. They are, however, slightly more noisy than the original fit Bridgestones - they hum slightly.

I got my PFF7s at the same time as I had the Prodrive springs & geometry done.

I haggled a package deal which came to a tad over £2K for the handling & cosmetic makeover.

£1575 for the wheels/tyres/balance/fit & £435 for the springs/geometry/fit.Then I got on the Godspeed Brembo group buy & saved £100 on the 335mm kit which just had to go on to fill out all that space under those wheels.

Trouble is its a bit like gambling. When your up on what you have saved (won) you then go & blow it.Which I did on a SECS monitor & shift light.

Easy come, easy go.You cant take it with you & my kids certainly aren't getting it.

Worth every penny though IMHO.

Flat Eric & Hugo,
Very nice

Seeing the alternatives and seeing yours I've decided I've got have some the wife will just have to work loads more overtime for a couple of month's LOL

So hopefully the Bodyshop is ordering them as I type

Lemmy,
Tried the 17" SO3's an excellent wet weather tyre and good dry but 5K of dry miles killed them

I have seen Bridgestone 225x40x18 SO2's N1, N2 & N3's but told these are "Porshce" tyres !!!!

Are you sure about that price????

I enquired last year about tyres from Kwik Fit and for Goodyear F1's 225/40x18 they wanted £200 per TYRE (I eventually got them elsewhere for £127 fitted inc metal valve/cap)
I would also be interested to know which Kwik Fit it was from?

Cheers

is there only one offset available on the PFF7 wheels?

I take it most big brake kits would fit behind the PFF7's?

LOL I found the Brembo's very good, bar from once, brake pads were too thin and had some fade on track but forgot to take the new set so not bothered about changing them yet.

Got 4 PFF-7's (but will need to confirm price first before posting it) just need 4 tyres. only seem to get 6Kmiles out a set of 17" will the 18's last any longer

D'oh - sorry guys - I mistyped. Price is £480, not £280!!!!! But thats still fully fitted, balanced, etc - still cheaper than Blackcircles, slightly more than Mytyres, but he Mytyres price is delivery only.

Went for PFF7's in the end - got them for £235 each - saving £40 each on RRP.

Again, sorry about the wrong price.

Ian

PS - this means that as from Tuesday I'll have a set of original STi wheels with Bridgestone RE070 (same as spec C) 225/45x17 which will have under 400 motorway miles on them - £550 - pick up from North West

Flat eric, every time I see your wagon I regret not going for black.

Then I remember how difficult it is to keep a black car clean, and reconcile myself with the silver I went for

The car does need 18s now. The 45 profile 17s are a little bit too eager to suffer tyre wall roll IMHO

I know exactly what you mean m8. It is a non stop 24/7 labour of love trying to keep on top of its appearance. One year & 15,000 miles down the road & it doesn't get any easier.

Worth it though for the looks & comments we get at shows & meets.

Silver would have been my choice if I had chickened out of black at the last minute.

Yes indeedy.I found the 18's along with the springs totaly transformed the handling.

I just have to fit the rear drop links I got at JAE from TSL's stand & that should be it as far as handling goes for me.

They are about half the lenth of a STD car valve so don't protrude outside and knocked off by Kerbs. You can also get 'Secret' flush type which are dearer and need a special adapter to pump them up IIRC
