Default Price of dealer service for 6 year old classic....

Anybody had their classic through the 60,000 / 6 year service?

Mine is due, I've had the car since August and painfully this is already the second service, it's an annual and I'm told it's the "Big One", timing belts etc.....

Does anyone know, roughly, what the costs should be and what work is required, please?

Cheers......

I assume yours is an MY98? Cam belt was at 45k on this model, but you are still gonna get stung for £400+ as it is still a major service.
See here

Are you sure the belt hasn't been done already? It should have been done at 36 months!

If you're after a quote I'd recommend AnG Services (ex main dealer mechanic) in Park Royal. Very fair prices from a no nonsense garage. Ask for Angie, he's the Subaru mechanic.

Extended the extended warranty when I got the car, so it has to be dealer!

I'll check out the belt at 36, but I don't think so.....

Thanks a lot, anything that isn't warranty linked I'll be heading to see Angie....

Cheers

Red face

Surely in order for the warranty to be valid the servicing MUST have been carried out as per the schedule, in which case the dealer should have changed the belts at 36 months.

Here's hoping you'll be in for a pleasant surprise, saving you a few quid (dealers charge £100+ just for the belt!!!).

I recently had to go up North (Scotland to be precise). I booked the car into a dealership up there and saved myself about 60.00 on a normal service.

Perhaps, that maybe an option if you can tie a service into a trip out of London (and London prices).

If I remember correctly, the belts on my Terzo and service worked out about 600.00, that was with a dealer in East London (Wilsons)

Thats quite correct - £750 looks like the number for the 60k Service with cambelt!

Bl00dy extortion if you ask me!! And all because I was a good boy and paid £400 for an extended warranty! This service would cost £300 LESS at an Independent! add that to the warranty cost and you get £700! Add up all the other overpriced services and that extended warranty will, in real terma, cost about £1500 for 2 years!

What would have to go wrong to eat up £1500?

They prob think that 'cos you've got gold wheels you're loaded.
Anyhow to answer the question and NOT get into an argument about when the belt should be changed...
Just trying to help the guy out. He's obviously not familiar with the servicing schedule or the service history of his car. Don't want him paying for anything that might not need doing.

Have phoned round the dealers and got the lowdown, I'm taking it to Wilsons in Essex / East London, cheapest by £100, but it is still £725, it's the biggest service they do on the imprezza, it's the 90,000 mile 6 year, cambelt, plugs, filters, gearbox oil, diffs and so on......

Just hope I can feel the difference.......

Thanks for the advice everyone,

Am I the only one who (according to the schedule) can see that the cambelt should have been done at 45k??????

If his car has FSh then the 45k cambelt would have been fitted in 2001
