Dear All,

Which alarm can:

1. detect wheels being removed(mercry tilt type?)

2. page you when it goes off

3. shut down the car when in motion from a remote control type device?

Answer: A Clifford Concept x00 (300, 500, 600? etc) G4 system with some extras.

I Have a Concept 50x with digital tilt and motion sensor on our scoob witch is the dogs dangles, park it on any angle and it will detect any movement of 1 degree from any angle for more than a few seconds (no more false alarms)before it goes off to look after our wheels.

Personally I dont rate the Cliffords, even though I had concept 60's fitted to my last two cars. On both these I got the "Bounce effect" where on locking the doors they lock and then unlock themselves - the problem was inconsistant and I used to get really p****d off second guessing the alarm system. I had it looked at numerous times but the problem returned every time.
I know the standard Sigma system on the MY99 is fairly "No frills", but I prefer it to the Clifford.
I think the top of the range Sigmas have more gizmos...but I couldn't swear to that.

I have a Clifford Concept 300 alarm on my Scoob' and it's superb.
I have a tilt/motion sensor (for wheel protection), digital proximity sensor and a turbo timer built in with it.
You can add a pager from a company called Microscan which will work fine with the Clifford, and one of theirs can also tell you what zone has gone off too.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'remote shutting off' but I can manually over-ride the turbo timer with my remote. If you mean shut the car off if someone nicks it, then you can have a 'Black Jax' fitted to the alarm which is an anti-hijack kit. It comes standard on the top of the range Concept 6oo.
I've never had any trouble with the central locking on my car, and if I did I'd take it in to be fixed.

Be very careful about Clifford alarms. I've had 2 in the past, a Concept 50 and a Concept 60. Like James I've suffered from erratic locking, and also:

Alarm falsely signalling a problem on passive arming, but never when manually arming.

Alarm falsely triggering for no reason in the company car park (my office window looks out over that area, so I know for a fact there were no animals or people within 50 yards of the car).

Alarm triggering at 3.30 a.m when inside my locked, ALARMED garage (car put away at 10.00 the previous night. Oh how my neighbours love me!).

Alarm will NOT respond at all to the remote when I park in a number of locations in my home town, so I can't set it manually, and if it passive arms I can't deactivate it without manually unlocking & opening the door (which sets the alarm off, obviously) and then putting it in valet mode to shut it up.

And a whole host of other niggles as well! Don't forget this is not just a one-off set of problems with one unit. I had the same things with 2 alarms on 2 different cars (both Honda) and I have also heard of people with cars like a Delta Integrale who have suffered identical problems. My cars went back to the (very helpful) installers at least a dozen times, and the installs were inspected by a second dealer at least once, but no-one ever got to the source of the problems, let alone fixed them. Clifford themselves couldn't give a toss - I tried writing directly to them, and got nowhere.

Personally, Clifford would be the last company on earth I'd turn to to protect my next car. Yes, they offer some great facilites (although even they can be quirky in operation), but the reliability, in spite of their claims, is absolutely dreadful.
