trying to re-build a machine with MS small business server, have a fresh drive and i am using the original cd's that came with the package. It will not auto-install,

yet i have a nt4 server disk and it auto run's, never had to do a SBS setup from scratch as it came pre-imaged, any ideas why it will not auto run

Look at the autorun.inf on the root of the CD, that will tell you which exe it wants to run. Or just search for setup.exe and try them all ..........

Wouldn't you need to boot from the cd to install it from scratch?

trying that , ie setup bios to boot from the cd, still will not work

yet nt4 server does it every time,

anybody using SBS out there

Which version of SBS? 4.0, 4.5 or 2000?

supplied originally on 3.5, then i got a free upgrade to 4.5,

so the master disks are 3.5 , tried the direct 4.5 route but these are upgrade only

If you look on the microsoft web site they have downloadable setup instructions for most versions.
