I have been trying to choose a new smart phone and am looking for one that i can sync all contacts, emails, calendar including meeting invites from others and tasks via a usb lead.

I thought Nokia Lumia 920 as a windows phone would do this but apparently this isnt possible unless you muck about trying to use hotmail etc which i dont want to do i want to use a lead so does and one know if it is possible on Android or Apple as i wouldnt mind a Nexus 4 and would consider a iPhone 4S

 

office 2003, you do realise we are in 2013?

 

a usb lead? these days its all sync'd wirelessly.

 

So long as you only need to sync with one Outlook/Exchange account, pretty much any decent Android phone will do this (wirelessly).

 

Well Office 2003 works why spend money buying a newer version!

I dont want to sync via the internet and my PC doesnt have bluetooth so a cable seems best.

How do i do it on an Android handset as some body i spoke to with a Nexus 4 said he was struggling to do it with out having to use Googlemail

 

But office 2k3 is pants in comparison to office 2010/2013 and office 2013 is designed to sync with the cloud more effectively.

 

got office 2010 at work in win7 VDI ( VDI falls over daily ) and i dont like it use 2003 on XP every chance i get easier on the eye everything i use in outlook on the one page etc

anyway have got the 2003 on PC at home (win7) and want to use a cable to sync to a new smart phone is this possible with out using google mail or the cloud as i couldnt find a way on my old android phone and i havent found friends who have found an easy way?

 

Everyone says that bout 2010 until you use it daily.

 

to be honest we have had it for 6 months at work and most want to go back to 2003 about 60/40 split to go back

 

The one thing above anything else I liked about my iphone was it's ease of use in syncing Outlook contacts and calendar (non exchange) through icloud which my now android phone can't do out the box.

Purely on Outlook syncing I would say iphone. However there are lots of pros and cons with both iphone and android phones but that's a can of worms that would take your original question way off topic.

Why on earth did Microsoft decide to change how the menu works from office 2007 and onwards still have trouble with office 2010 when I moved over from 2003. Still prefer 2003 as at least you have a fighting chance on how to get things done without remembering what short keys do what . And before anyone says anything, I started off using PCs back in the late 80's/early 90's using MS-DOS 3.0 onwards and even Windows 3.1 and 3.11 when back in the day shortcut key were all the range as well as wordperfect for DOS etc.. and all I can see is that Microsoft love to change things so they can sell a training course or 2 so you can re-learn how to do things

Otherwise, like the article says there are paid-for apps which should do it, assuming the right combination of phone, Android, Windows and Outlook version, etc.

You will have a nightmare syncing local Outlook contacts and calendar on that even with those links. I use Companion Link having tried most others and whilst it works it's slow and a lot of setting up on it and just a total faff about. It's my main gripe with Android.

riiidaa the blue tooth will not be the issue if my previous experience is anythong to go by as my previous Android phone was impossble to set up to Sync properly with outlook on my PC and that is why i was going to get a Nokia 920 but research shows that wont do it even though its a windows phone!!

So saved a couple of hundred pounds and bought a Nexus 4 and will think about this when that dies and i have to get a new phone again

 

My wife has outlook at work and uses a Samsung GS3, it syncs fine with email, contacts, calendar. You then customize the settings for your own preference:-)

 

Yes uses it at work, therefore more than likely an Exchange Outlook account which is completely different to how Outlook works on your home pc using an imap or pop3 email account.

an you wonder why its difficult getting it to work???

 

and yet in 2002 Sony Ericsson produced a phone that sync with office and had copy and paste of text as a standard feature so why have we gone back?
