PS2 DVD remote control - US version - trying to get working on UK PS2

I know you are gadget freaks (said in a kindly voice!) and so I would like your help please. I bought (a tad foolishly) a remote control kit in the US only to find that the software (stored on a CD) is for US only. I am presuming the remote unit and IR unit are both OK for the UK and all that matters is the software which gets stored in a memory card.
Do either of you know anyone who has a remote for a PS2 from whom I could borrow the CD with the software? Saves me buying the entire pack again!!!
