Evenin' all. I'm trying to make win2k professional give me a feature only found in server...
I want to have multiple web sites. Not just virtual directories, really multiple websites. As in add a new website into the IIS admin tool.
I know how to do this with server.
Is there any way of persuading Win2k pro to do the same?
A thousand thank yous to the person that finds a way!

Dont be soft you could get server to run on that... You would have to be really creative and disable lots of services and do nothing else with it... Like steve says... apache for intel is out..

Hmmm.. you could always write an ASP file (default.asp on the root) that looks at the HOST header and then redirects them accordingly. For example, if a user came in by typing www.website2.com, they would automatically go first to www.website.com/default.asp which would then redirect to www.website.com/website2. It's early, but does that make any sense?

Yup, makes perfect sense.
The problem is that I use a template that includes a virtual file (/script/...). I suppose I ought to make this dynamic to save all my hassles
There is always an easy way and a hard way to do something, an nine times out of ten I'll pick the hard way. I think it's a Leeds thing. Just look at Mr Wallis - he could have bought an intercooler, but, oh no...

just dont use the virtual bit?? cant you just do
include \script\cheapskate.asp blah blah ???
(Add ! and () <> as necessary) but I know what you mean about making it dynamic... stop whinging and get it done..
I've just thought
Nicks going to convert LIMP to be WIMP running windows 2000 pro and then use an old mobile, dynamic dns, and then we can all choose his songs via a web browser.

naah, I've got multiple websites that I develop on this machine.
I'm going to do things a different way as I think it'll be more simple and more secure this way
Nick.

The other point to mention is that I use VBSCript, so need to use something commercial from Chilisoft if I wish to use VBScript in my asp.
I know that I should grow up and use a real language but after all I am lazy.

Not tried installing Server on my Libretto, but it may be OK if you disable a load of stuff (!).
There's a book called something like 'Securing Win2k/NT servers for the internet' that is excellent in helping to disable all the stuff you don't need (most of it!).
Failing that, use the host header method suggested or, as its only for development you could just copy the files you need into the directory for the site you are currently working on....
I always find that Fireworks, Dreamweaver and Photoshop leave a little to be desired on an 800x480 screen !!
