SCCM/Win7 laptop question
Desktop and VDI are easy to update with task sequence as they are always online on the network. But how about laptop? How would I update a laptop considering the laptop connection the corp wireless (via certs) as the user or at home via VPN. The task sequence update has a few reboot, so the update need to be done offline.
Any ideas?

Suba we use SCCM 2012 and the laptop asset number, even if its off the lan, as soon as they connect the VPN the Task is in a Q waiting for when its online.
Obviously it need to be able to see the laptop.
As with anything though even SMS, it will always need to be connected to the WAN/LAN via VPN or some form of lan cable to receive the Update or APP.
Once you push the app to the designated asset it then in the Q when the laptop Logs in it should be pushed to it, using the client side sccm client ?
explain to me more
are you saying that the homeuser laptops are not domain joined ? How in your old world did you patch and push apps to them

We use a managed WSUS via SCCM where approved updates are deployed to all PCs to be run locally on the PC in conjunction with BITS. Using BITS means that the downloads will resume where it left off when the laptop reconnects via VPN so a whole batch of updates will still go down to PCs and run whether online or offline when the download completes. The updates install in the background and users will be prompted to reboot whenever a reboot is required.
