Default NetFlix vs Lovefilm

ok before my little review, i just want to say both services offer very old stuff, and not much new, so if your expecting new funky films dont go there LOL

Ok so i bought an Apple TV 3 and subscribed to netflix and i can honestly say i love it, ive started watching old series like Heroes the 4400 and warehouse 13, specifically the apple TV its 1080p Streaming, i dont see this when streaming to a pc but i think its 1080p on the ps3 and xbox also.

Anyway content of the 2
lovefilm is geared towards films and has less series it also crops the films images etc, and the quality is poor,

Netflix however gives fullfat pictures in full 1080p which in my eyes makes it the best at the moment. I also have a family and my 4 year old loves netflix and thre Apple TV its so simple she clicks away and shes in, Lovefilms menus are a but crap. Also as a family unit 40min series do me not long films, i have another place i get films.

oooo and you can cancel netflix from the account area, lovefilm you gotta ring

I was also streaming perfect quality films to it in my lunch yesterday on my iPHONE on 3g, maximum streams per account is 2.

but if im honest the best out there would be Itune subscrition, so an addition to itunes match

P.S My father inLaw did lovefilm and got a dvd from them it was all scratched and jumped alot, so he promptly cancelled it.

In my eyes worth 5.99 a month.

I had a 3 month trial of love film and wasn't impressed - you pick a list of the titles you want and they send them out in the order you want them - problem is they don't same goes for PS3 games didn't get what I wanted first

live streaming on the ps3 and PC didn't like the quality

I canceled my account online just make sure you cancel it out of working hours and it works fine

Assuming you've got decent broadband, unfortunately half the country hasn't.

I still like having a library of blu-rays to watch. Did the LoveFilm DVD rental thing ages ago but in the end cancelled as I wasn't using it enough. Instead I spend the money I saved on buying films that I'm likely to want to watch more than once.

Streaming is a good idea though and may consider it once my AV is configured a bit better at home. Would like a home theatre PC (HTPC) at some stage to assist with this. Also have FTTC broadband which helps

was pretty disapointed with the downloadable content on lovefilm, netfix seemed to be very similar. Both were old films with very few recent releases. Cancelled it after a month was so unimpressed, using sky on demand through virgin tivo instead and thats much newer selection.

I have LoveFilm on offer for £9.99 for six months so I decided to take it. I am not really that impressed. All the stuff is really old.

I also had a free subscription with NetFlix and found that similiar.

To be fair though, I use IceFilms that has almost everything instantly. I would happily pay £9.99/month for that kind of service but I guess there isn't enough revenue to split between the content makers.

recreate the experience of looking through the dvd rack at your local charity shop.
get netflix/lovefilm.

all the stuff you stream is out of date and rubbish.

I agree that the range of films on Netflix is quite old but if your a film fan surely that doesn't matter.
If you want the latest Hollywood crap got to Blockbuster. The fact that Netflix lets you stream to multiple devices with unlimited viewing for £5.99 a month with a lot of the content being in HD, which is little more than one rental from Blockbuster.
Anyway I'm off to watch 'The Great Escape" again. Bye.

Had both on Free Trial, mainly for the Cashback / Vouchers

I don't download films and only watch TV sparingly so found plenty of things that I could watch on both sites.

Lovefilm has a slightly better Film range, but is let down by poor picture quality and lack of Android Streaming.

Netflix has better TV Shows and HD content, Plus if you use an Xbox/PS3 you can easily access the US library () which makes it a better choice overall imo.

I've got Netflix and the UK films are crap compared to the US version.

I ended up changing the DNS/server on my Xbox to watch them. So much better!

I tried that, but then you can't watch the content that is exclusive to the UK.

It seems the DNS servers I used don't work any more.

Anyone viewing us content still?

Cheers for that I'll take a look later. There's no way I'd pay for Netflix if I could only view the UK content. It's appalling!

109.123.111.24
190.14.36.90

Go into your network settings of your iPad, and look for the DNS entry at the bottom, ent the two ips in above and Walla done, open Netflix and it may ask you to sign in again, that's it, content is mega I've been doing it all afternoon

What I can't understand is how they get downtown abbey and all seasons of 24 and battle star galactica we don't get any apart from 4 of 24

I signed up to the 1 month free trial through my xbox yesterday to Netflix,i'm not really liking it.
Not many new releases and the films are quite old,i was expecting more new releases etc,the most recent i have found so far is the mechanic, the rest was like Kill Bill,Harry Brown,Transformers etc etc.
I shall still go on with the free trial but can't see me staying with it,saying that though for £5.99 a month i suppose its not bad,i'm 50/50 about it at the moment.

I've changed my Apple Tv so I get the USA content. Is it me or doesn't the picture quality appear as good?

Does the USA library have much newer film content? I've just signed up to the 1 month Netflix free trial and found the films a load of old tat, anything I searched for wasn't listed and probably the only two i'd watch that I found were Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction

Update tried the DNS and it works.

More variety/choice.
