I'm the same. I lost 100 hours to skyrim but at least there is an end to that game. I have ocd and have to collect everything so I know wow would probably ruin me.
I know people who have put 650+ DAYS into wow One bloke I used to work with pretty much ruined his life because of wow. Lost his missus, put on about 10 stone and went from living in a nice house to sharing some dingy 1 bed flat with some fat bird he met in a guild.

i have had 2 accounts for 7 years lol, buy it in a batch of time and price drops off, i think £9 a month is the cheapest you can get if youget it in a 12 month block.

It takes alot longer to get into cos training is real time, not grinding, so as we speak im trining lol

Its way more complex and way more sociable, eg corp im in is 150 man, alliance is about 500, group of alliances we are allied with is about 6k players in total :O.

The universe is more open and fights aren't limited to 12v12/24v24. I once saw the whole server crash when to 1000 man+ fleets tried to engage each other lol, although typicly it doesn't go about 200 vs 200

4 accounts on and off since early US beta. Not played it for about 6 months now. Not interesting in going back. Waiting for Diablo 3, and messing about on Eve at the mo.

i did make full use of the time though, and yes the learning curve is very very steep compared to others which was not a real issue .. but having to spend ages jumping from one place to another for me was a bit tedious, even on auto i found myself looking at guides on the web for eve... and not really doing much else .. except being unable to complete things. i had some help with it in the way of a corp but hey ho ... might try it again ..

since april 2004 but have had loads of un-subbed time during that and am only approaching 10m sp on my main char. I am sure if I had played it the same amount as WoW I would be in null space with nearly everything at lvl 5

I have to say I am enjoying it much more since going back to it a week or so ago. They have changed loads over the years. I even like the way if you turn off autopilot you can now warp to 0m on the gates/space-stations and insta dock or insta activate the gates. Saves a great deal of time.

I have done a fair bit of running missions but am now doing some industry skills, mining, fabrication and planetary stuff.

It is a very daunting game for a new player, but if you enjoy scifi and space you can't find a better one if you ask me. It is not one of those games like WoW where you have to spend every waking moment to get anywhere. I dont have much free time anymore so being able to game for an hour or two and have my training and skilling up done when I am working/sleeping is great.

WoW is a great game too, but I just had enough of it. When I finished I had a full account of 85's, I knew it was time to go ... and before anyone asks/thinks of it, no I am not selling/donating the account. It has lots of memories and friends associated for me so will be there until bliz decides to delete inactive ones.

Also, if you get into EvE and make lots of in game money (isk) you can purchase game time with it. I did a bit of working out last night, and I could pay for a month's subs with about 5 evenings of mining, and mining is not the most profitable in EvE. Quite cool actually

Richie.

mental loads of terms in the chat that I have no idea what they mean. What were the two ships doing at the back in the second fight? each beaming something. I notice that loads of ships were drakes as well. Nice

PS; sorry for all the eve stuff in this wow thread :s

Richie.
