got the new machine built. was waiting for RAM, but got fed up so purchased some, but don't think the machine likes it, it will power on but nothing on screen, no beeps to indicate bad or missing ram.

Looking in the motherboard manual, it mentions (64x72) about the DDR slots, when I look at the packaging for the RAM it says (32x64) Could this be the problem? could the RAM be too slow for the motherboard (some gigabyte something or other!)

I know I'm not being exactly specific about the specs, but any advice appreciated.

Are you sure your graphics card is seated properly? AGP cards are notorious for being picky.

Are you getting any beeps at all?

I believe some VIA chipset-based motherboards don't like the memory chips you have. Which mobo is it?

PCs are great aren't they?

What capacity is the memory - my motherboard wouldn't support 512Mb in a single slot so I had to swap it for 2 x 256Mb.

Try this link to Dabs and select your PC and it will tell you thr memory spec you need.
