Fecking Macbook Air Wifi
Is absolutely useless - which is a bit of an issue for a machine intended to be used purely as a wifi machine.
Quite a number of threads about it.
Issues such as not securing an IP address; drop outs are terrible.
As an 'experiment' I have an Air and a MBP sat side by side playing the same iPlayer program - the MBA cannot go 30s without a pause. The MBP is playing it completely smoothly (and it looks like a higher resolution as well). Other MBPs and Windows machines are totally fine on this Airport powered network.
It seems to have got worse with the last update.
It also seems the chip is also used by a Samsung machine and they have been doing a hardware update on return.

PS Works great with my mobile broadband
PPS I can't use my mobile broadband at home

That sucks, have you looked at the new wifi analysis tools in Lion? Probably no use at all but here's a link http://www.macworld.com/article/1621...dden_tool.html
I know it doesn't help but I spent most of the morning yesterday getting an Air, two iMacs an iPhone and and iPad to play nicely together and WiFi wasn't an issue, Time Capsule in the same room.

Jack,
I already came across that - although not sure how an S/N ratio analysis is going to help me!!
The MBA/Lion/Wifi issue does seem well reported. And frustrating when I sit here with an MBP that works perfectly on the same network!!
I tried a few of the recommended tricks - turning of Bluetooth, uncheck ask to join new networks, etc
Some improvement - at least the connection is much more stable - but data transfer is just not as good as the MBP.
