are you running the new firmware for the superhub? R28 i think it is? I think i will ask the tech bod if i can keep my netgear router and just use the superhub as a cable modem. is that even possible?

Lush, shame Virgin aren't extending their network to those of us unable to receive their service. Mind you I'm getting
And paying less than £11 per month for it so I shouldn't complain

1. my 50Mbit had a ping of about 15ms to both London and Dublin servers
2. now while on 100Mbit my ping varies dependant on server. as you can see 47ms to dublin, yet only 24ms to London albeit with a slightly lower speed.
Virgin do advertise a 100/10 service. i can't seem to crack 9Mbit upload for some reason. the tech bod reckoned my speed was as good as it was going to get. (not that he spent that much time trying. basically plugged in the superhub and left). I have asked on CableForum if i can tweek the modem to squeeze some more out of it.

It's a case of cost to supply and demand for cable stuff, which is what this thread is about for the speeds given so far.
I suspect your best "hope" will be for BT to upgrade your area to FTTC in the future.
Are you sure your speed is as it should be?
A friend of mine lived miles from an exchange (in a village) and was getting around 500Kb DL! Until I sorted his internal wiring out he then jumped up to 2Mb (this was only this year and he had the previous speed for years). I could get even more if I played with his modem SNR settings.
I have had similar experiences with my own line:
Used to achieve 3.5 to 4Mb DL and after tweeks to the Modem and alterations to my internal wiring I got that up to a stable 5Mb.
I then recently swapped over to ADSL2+ and with Modem tweaks I now get 7.15Mb. I'm pretty chuffed with that and fortunately our town is getting upgraded to FTTC (Fibre To The Cabinet) before March 2012.
I can't wait!

It depends on what you're doing..... if you're DL stuff you would could notice a difference of up to 50% decrease in DL bandwidth against your previous 10Mb connection. If you were and are doing normal browser stuff I would agree the difference would be arguable.
