Default HTC Desire S - Ordered

Finally, upgrade time has arrived.
Ordered the HTC Desire S from O2 yesterday.

I'm so sad, but I can't bloody wait!
I will actually have a phone that I can play games on and surf the net. My blackberry 8900 curve has served me well and has been really good at what it does best - making/receiving calls, txting and pulling emails....but that's all it can really do.

Time to move on!

Good for you!

I still play with my Desire over a year on. So enjoy the addiction.

Dave as long has she has'nt got long nails she should be ok, my GF can't get on with my desire and still loves her bb9700 as she is a texter.

Was also thinking of the latetest HTC, I'm doing some work for a guy in Taiwan and his sister happens to own HTC, don't think I hinted enough last week when I was out there, maybe a bit more direct next time.

I doubt I will have many of the features constantly on all the time.
Still even if you get a full day out of a smart phone with everything on, that's not really that bad!

As above most smarties have a short battery life, buy an extra charger off fleabay for peanuts, leave it plugged in at work and plug it in when you go to bed, I rarely have battery issues as a result, simple but effective

There`s ways around poor battery life. The 2 things that make all the difference on my Desire are, don`t have the brightness set too bright and only turn the internet on when required ;-) Mine lasts almost a full day...but I do send around 150 texts a day :-)

I don't think i put mine down for about 6 months. Just when you think you have it set up and looking how you like it. You find a better app, with a different widget and colour scheme. Then you'll get into different launchers and repeat the whole process.

Just long press on an empty space, then click folder from the menu. Drag your apps into it. If you open the folder and long press on the folder name, you can change the name of the folder. I wouldn't worry too much about rooting, it means you have "root" access to the device so you can do whatever you want with it. Lets you run a few apps you wouldn't be able to before, but also you can flash custom ROMS and tweak CPU speed and such.

Cheers fella. Now how to I get rid of them from my app page? Getting a bit cluttered. They are still there even though I now have copies in my game folder.

The folder is just like a shortcut, the apps drawer will still list all apps. Not sure if there's a way to make any of them hidden.

Edit: Just been looking and there is an app called app hider, but it needs root access to work. It does make apps hidden from the app drawer, but also it will make the shortcuts to the apps not work, so not much use in this case.

Are all your apps listed in one long list, or do you get a grid of apps? Depending on what version of Android you are running, if you have a list, go into the app drawer and press menu, then select grid. This makes it much better for scrolling all apps.

I use a free app called "Apps Organiser". You set up a folder, give it an icon (if you wish) and select the apps to go in that folder. Simples!

If you use a 3rd party launcher (Go, Launcher Pro) you can "hide" the apps from the apps drawer. You'll lose sense widgets though, but gain a lot of things back.

Will have a look for that Gaz.
Still loving it and I am getting almost two days out of a full charge, so not too bad.
One thing that did **** me off a little was google maps deciding to update using pretty much all of my 500mb allowence! So had to buy another 500mb to last me the month.
I know I could have used my own wifi, but it just decided to update whilst I was at work.

Will keep a check on my downloads from now.

Untick Automatic update. You'll be notified of updates available, but they'll be manual.

Android booster seems a good little app.
It was definitely the google maps update that killed my allowence.
May have to add a bolt on though to increase my allowence to 1 gig though!
Only an extra £4 a month, so I think I'll do that.
