I have a particular need to be able to speak into the microphone plugged into my soundcard and to hear my voice amplified out through the speakers....very much like an amplifier system.

Obviously this is very low power stuff.....any idea how to do this?

I presume I need a little proggy which opens the mic in port.

Can't you just open the volume control, and go Options => Properties...?

 

Volume Control, Options, Properties, then select the Mircophone and turn it off mute and make sure the volume's high. Then give it a try..
