Are you sure that it says JavaScript and not just Java???
I thought that JavaScript was handled directly by your browser (thus no need for an individual update) - which one are you using?
Any chance of posting a picture of the update warning/message itself?

I agree that it's probably Java rather than Javascript. If the alert is mentioning JS then I'd run a malware/AV product on the machine to check it's not something nasty trying to get you to update. Even the Java updater should not need any kind of verification code, as boomer says,pop up a screenshot of the error you are seeing.
Oh and OS type and version would be handy to know too.
