Only if you are installing pirated apps or apps not available through the app store.
I know hackulous had some app sync thing, but as they have changed their focus I don't believe their cydia repository is available any longer.
I've downloaded spirit, backed up my iPhone, but ran out of time, might be able to try it tonight.

Just had a spare moment and upgraded to 3.1.3 and used Spirt to JB. Very quick and easy.
With 3.1.2 I had to use pwnage and do a full restore, thus meaning I had to copy music and apps back onto the phone, which took additional time. With this though I simply used the normal procedure of updating in iTunes, then applied the JB afterwards, everything is still there and appears to work. Lovely
Have to admit I am slightly tempted to try a JB on the iPad. I'm wondering if a legit reason could be to confirm where our encrypted books are stored and that they are removed on deletion and such like, plus to make sure if someone were to copy them off they wouldn't be of use without the encryption keys.
