The GT5 Academy Demo should be with us on Thursday

For those who haven't heard, it's a time trial - on the Indianapolis Road Course; 2 cars - Nissan 370Z - a non-tuned and a racing model.

The demo is also the first qualifying round for the 2010 GT Academy.

Unlike the first GT Academy, participants will not have to enter the competition using the GT5 Prologue. The holders of the twenty fastest online lap times from each participating country will qualify for their national final event. Twenty finalists, chosen from each of the national finals events, will head to Silverstone for the GT Academy itself - a five-day, comprehensive race driver ‘boot camp’.

My times need work

2'00.329 in the normal car and 1'46.465 in the tuned

The records are currently 1'49.081 normal and 1'36.804 tuned. so I have a good 10 seconds to find!

It was only a quick lunchtime blast - 5 laps or so That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it

Maybe if I keep off the gravel my times will improve

 

About 1 second quicker than me, think i need a bit more practice

I've had a few goes on this now and I'm still rubbish at it.
got a 1.49 point something in normal car last night
Can't remember the latest time in tuned car, but its a lot easier to control

The "Tuned" and "Nomal" headings on that link are the wrong way around

What name do you appear on there as - anyone know?

Agree the tuned car is easier to control and you can vary the traction control which you can't on the normal car

It shows up as your PSN login (granby 64 in my case)

Yep, it's standalone and only weighs in at 219Mb IIRC.

 

Currently my best times are

Tuned - 1.44.249
Normal - 1.55.779

That's with the standard PS3 controller

 

been playing this a little bit of late and it is now getting on my ****.... my best lap on the tuned is a 1:40 and just cannot seem to find any extra time on it, how the hell are people lapping in the 1:35's? AAARRRGGHHHHH

 

Its all about perfect apex kissing cornering ability, and no wheel spin.

Best time with the tuned car currently stands at 1:39:648, which isn't close to a perfect lap, then again, I've only done about 10 laps.

I think the best Scandinavia time is 1:35:6xx to which I lose about a second on corners 4,5 and 6 also the little chicane before the back straight I haven't nailed yet.

My best lap on tuned is also 1:40 - using PS3 controller and I doubt I'll get too much faster

I reckon the 1:35 boy's have steering wheel/pedal setups

 

You can download the fastest laps and play them back, it also tells you what gear that were using

 

i've done a 1.42.3 in the tuned and haven't played in the normal yet.

 

This comp is finished now I think ?

I set a single lap in the tuned car using the controller and finished in the 1:50's I think LOL

I'lll have to get serious and bring my Forza only race chair from upstairs and haul the logitech out of the box.

I'll haver a go at a time today. might get the wife to take some pics of the setup in action

My best lap in the Tuned car is 1'43.713.

 

Tuned Car 1:39.122 good for 1951st at the moment.

I've got a second to take off that on a good lap and a little more once I get used to thelogitech wheel again (rotation is killing me after being used to the MS version

the tight section is killing me

 

1:38:450 now good enough for 945th overall

....more time to come I've been 1/2 a second faster than that lap in the first sector and 1/3 faster in the last sector. My best lap is going to be a low 1:37.XXX I think.

i'm down to a 1.40 in the tuned can't remember what the normal time is.
