Need to find memory speed
how do I find the bus speed of the RAM installed in my PC? It's not written on, and the only testing software I can find tests the read/write speed. I need it so I can buy some extra RAM (having discoved that half of the 2GB fitted is swallowed up with Bridge and Photoshop)
also, I 've installed Kapersky (sp?) software, which is telling me that the graphic capability is really bad. I built it 6 months ago, with a Geoforce 9400 card, which seems to be running properllt, has updated drivers, and made a massive difference to the game I bought it for (as oposed to the onboard graphic processing). Is it just lying?!
of it helps, it a Bare-bone kit from CCL, Asus mboard, Intel Dual Core (7400 I think, one of the faster ones), Vista 32
cheers

If you go to RAM Memory Upgrade: Dell, Mac, Apple, HP, Compaq. USB drives, flash cards, SSD at Crucial.com there's a utility which will scan your machine, tell you what RAM you have and recommend what you should buy to upgrade it. I'd recommend buying it from Crucial as well.
the Max Bandwidth field says PC2-5300 (333MHz)
In the memory tab I can't see anything which looks like a bus speed, though there's the FSB
RAM, which is 8:10
this is the motherboard... ASUS P5SD2-VM - motherboard - micro ATX - SiS672 - LGA775 Socket

Your motherboard supports upto 4Gb of 667Mhz DDR2 ram (you multiply the 333Mhz by 2 as its DDR2 ram).
You only have 2 slots on that mobo and they will more than likely both be taken by a single Gb stick so you may as well get 2 x 2Gb of DDR2-5300.
Open it up first to check though.
Vista 32 won't recognise and utilise the full 4Gb though so I would seriously consider getting a copy of Windows 7 64Bit, especially with Photoshop being optimized for 64bit.
The difference changing from 32bit to 64bit for me with Adobe Lightroom was night and day.
CT2KIT25664AA667 - 4GB kit (2GBx2), 240-pin DIMM , DDR2 PC2-5300 from Crucial.com
Maybe cheaper to get two of these though;

I reserve the right to be wrong though
