Question

Morning folks

I'm sure this has been discussed already, but hey search is down so...

The massive advertising campaign for the Xbox is almost working on me and I'm tempted, so wanted some opinions - not seen one demo'd yet...are they worth the price at present? besides Halo are there any other killer titles? wheres the best place to buy? Whats the memory card thing? surely a hard drive negates the need for such a thing?

Or should I just go for the cheaper PS2? (and MGS2)

cheers

Neil

only use ive seen for memory card is if you want to save chracter details to take to a friends to play multiplayer with your own characters/details etc.

so hardly a big need for that one imo.

decent games are - halo (obviously), project gotham (race game a little different from most where you have to gain points for sliding), dead or alive 3 (stunning graphics fighting game), wreckless (another driving game, stunning graphics a little short tho) and rallisport challenge (great reviews).

Other good games aaccording to reviews are as follows :-
jet set radio future - 9.1 (all marks out of ten)
amped - 8.5
tony hawks pro skater 3 - 9.5
wwf raw - 9.1
nhl 2002 - 9
max payne - 9
ssx tricky - 9

or just have a look at http://xbox.ign.com/reviews.html and look at the reviews, or the editors choice section.

Hmm played a bit on my mates xbox last night and its awesome - dead or alive 3 far surpasses any fighting game on any console Ive seen - the graphics are awesome.

Played a bit of Halo and it rocks. Of course thats only two games but the PS2 didnt release with that many awesome titles other than SSX. Try them both and make ur own decision - and I dont mean 5 mins in dixons

It comes with scart convertor but no coaxial connector (same as PS2).

Got mine yesterday, been waiting 18 months for it (www.my-x-box.co.uk) and am well chuffed. I got Amped and Gotham Racing yesterday when I picked up the box and have order Blood Wake and Halo from play.com to save a bit of cash.

The driving game is ok but is not a simlulator like TOCA2 on the PS1 or anything like that, but the environments, graphics and sound are the biz. Should be considering the spec though.

Controller memory card allows you to take your joystick with your best settings and characters around with you.

Been playing Halo all day and it is fookin awesome. The graphics are far better than the PS2 and the attention to detail is great e.g. the bullet cases flying from the mini gun on the warthog jeep - not only do they fire out with smoke they also roll down hills and pile up. Once u get used to the different control setup its ace. The controller maybe big but its easy on the hands. I think Im deffo gonna get one.

Thumbs up

If you've seen my thread in "non-scooby related" you'll know I have one.

I got a bundle from Dabs.com which had Halo, DOA3, Oddworld Oddysee, extra controller & a memory card.

First impressions, Halo - How the bloody hell am I meant to control it but after the first level it's quite intuitive. Awesome graphics too. Dead Or Alive 3, again WOW!. Oddworld - not played it yet cause the other 2 have taken up all my time and platformer aren't really my thing.

I'm torm between Project Gotham & Wreckless for my next game. Oh and the dvd remote.

Ive got halo - awesome, max payne - great gameplay & graphics

DOA3 - sooooo fast and playable

Shrek - Light hearted kids entertainment (some adults too)

Project gotham racing incredible graphics attention to detail, doesn't quite seem as playable as GT3 though. No mods etc.
