im about to aquire a broke xbox360, ive heard rumours of just ringing them up and sending them, and they fix it, can anyone tell me if this is the case.

 

yes i had mine done took about 5 days. not sure about if they will do it if its not registered to you though

 

That's if it's in warranty of course. I've got one that's out of warranty and has the red rings of death. It's already been fixed once. Haven't bothered getting a price to fix it. But let me know if you do.

Warranty is 3 years, so unless it's an early model it'll be covered, phone and ask as they can tell the age via the serial number.

 

You can register the xbox in your name online assuming it hasn't already been registered.
Then it tells you how much warranty is left.
If you manage this, you can submit an online repair and they'll arrange to collect it.

Sign in/Register and once your in, register the xbox. Once you go to the support pages you'll find out if it's still in warranty for RROD repair (assuming that's what's wrong with it).
