We had the PSU for a Compaq external drive array *explode* yesterday afternoon on one of our file servers and hence have now got the problem of restoring a massive directory tree with complicated NT permissions to a different box- is there a utility whereby you can point it at a file system and say replace group \\domain1\group1 with \\domain2\group2?
look at cacls.exe & xcacls.exe that ship with MS...there are other 3rd party ones to use as well. I think xcacls is 2000 only, just gives a few more options
also reg key option as well, all the permissions are held within reg keys...just can't remember which ones...I'm sure someone has just done it recently
