Currently running an Athlon Slot A 700 with 400 ish megs ram (64 + 128 + 256). Video is a Voodoo 5500 64 meg AGP. About to sell the mobo processor etc and fit a new one.
I am looking at an Athlon XP 1700+ and already have 256 megs DDR waiting. Any suggestions as to what Motherboard to get, currently have a Gigabyte which has been good and recently built a system based on the MSI Nforce board which worked but was a pain (manual was wrong !)
Also looking for suggestions for video cards, Anyone running a Radeon 8500 ?
Have seen the Geforce 4 MX for £95, bargain or not ?

Geforce 4 MX is mean't to be pretty good (slightly faster than a Geforce 2 Ultra) but it will be slower than a Radeon 8500.
There is also an issue with VIA AMD chipset boards/Geforce/Windows XP which causes the machine to lock up.
