Default yes..more iPhone questions!

As my number gets transfered today I'm almost ready for the big switchover from my N95 to the 3GS.
I've been trying to transfer ringtones (mp3 format) to the iPhone. I've read the FAQ's and help files but all it says is to use itunes. Now I've obviosuly tried that, I've got the iphone connected up and ready, when I drag and drop the mp3 file from exploxer to the 'ringtones' folder on the iphone (in itunes) the iphone lights up and says 'syncing' but nothing appears!? what am I doing wrong?
Also, smae question but how to I transfer images to it (to use as wallpapers).
Lastly, I use my N95 as an extra alarm clock, I can happily turn it off at night and know full well that if there's a power cut and my bedside alarm clock resets I have the N95 to wake me up. I've tried a test alarm on the iphone but it doesn't switch itself on?!! is that right? I have to leave the phone on all night?!

I think that's it...for now

Other than that, I'm loving it

Matt

The ringtone thing is beyond me unless you use a Mac, if so then just open the .mp3 file in Garage Band and share it as a ringtone.

As for the alarm, your old phone just pretended it was turned off when it wasn't.

With the ring tones I think you have to rename the file type, have look on YouTube as there are videos on how to do it. If you do a search on here for ring tones someone put a link up to a site that you can download iPhone ringtones, which I have used and found everthing I've looked for.

itunes and PC
Even if the N95 pretended at least it didn't ring or beep if a message came through in the wee hours. I guess I'll just have to remember to turn on 'airplane mode'

Turn the sound off with the button on the top left side, your alarm should still go off

As far as I know you can't do custom message tones, if you jailbreak you can put some on that are available for winterboard and the like.

You can put custom on without jailbreak. I've got nana windows of chris moyles show.

Put the mp3 in iTunes , then covert to aac. Once doin change the extension to .m4r double click on the file. It'll go into ringtones in iTunes.

The clip cannot exceed 30 secs.
