Default 360 Media Player using Vista!!!

Please, please I need your help as this is driving me insane.

I want to stream music from my laptop on Vista home Premium to my Xbox 360 but I cant figure it out!!

On all the guide's I have seen on youtube etc I am told to,

-Access the Windows media Player on my laptop,
-Click on Library,
-Click on Media Sharing and there should be a little Xbox logo there for me to allow but the xbox logo is not there.

I have come to a standstill and have no other idea's!!

Can anyone please shed any light????

You need to run the connection setup from the XBOX to get it detected on the PC. Im My XBOX, scroll right until you get to Windows media Center, open that and it should run you through the setup. Some firewall programs can stop it working, I had problems with the older version of AVG, I had to disable it to get the connection working, then once I re-enabled it AVG sorted itself out. Obviously don't disable your firewall whilst still connected to the outside world, if you need to do that, unplug the line from your router/modem first!

Did you pair it up first with the 8 digit number it gives you?

Whats is you network set to private or public? You have to have it set to public for the xbox to view your pc iirc

Have you tried running the Media Cener setup on the XBOX, does it give you any errors?

My Belkin router was fine...

fire up WMP and go to sharing.. if it sees the xbox, let it share.

i found that my firewall was set to block new devices, once i let it know it was ok there were no probs. (small icon bottom right near the clock)

Go into your routers setup, check that its set to allow other connections,

do a search on you firewall providers forums..

i use Comodo, they have a dedicated section for gaming, and had the fixes for the xbox already published
