Default Slow upload with Virginmedia?

Has anyone using virginmedia had any issue with chronic slow upload speeds?

A week ago all 3 computers in the house (ethernet wired desktop and 2 wifi lappys) started to suffer with slow internet responses. Some pages are slow but more complex ones with lots of drop downs (ebay, autotrader, hotmail etc) are really bad and sometimes will not even load. Doesn't matter if I use IE or firefox.

I've done all the usual stuff, rolled it back, reboot modem and router, virus scan (avg & housecall) and have found nothing. I also did a few different speed checks and while my download speed seems ok (6 - 8 mb) my upload speed is woeful, sometimes as low a 4 - 11 Kb.

I've called virgin and while they were very polite short of telling me to reboot and not call back for 2 hours every time they've been no help at all.

Has anyone else had this problem or am I looking in the wrong place?

Cheers

Haven't logged onto that yet, where in the stats would i find it?

If it's a router problem would the hardwired desktop suffer too?

well it depends on your router

but I would imagine you have a menu that lists "connection status" or something like that

router problem would effect all PC's accessing the internet through it

OK, I'll look for the logs and if in doubt I'll connect the desktop straight to the modem. Cheers mate

It's not just you - a lot of Virgin users have been affected by this. Your upload speed should be around 384MBps with Virgin.

I've just ditched them as I couldn't put up with the intermittent problem you mention. My upload speed is now 1 Mbps through Be
, download is 12 Mbps

Shouldn't that be 384Kbps ? Although I wish it was MBps.

Mines running very slow recently too, and my Wii which I have just bought and connected into my wireless network won't download anything as the connections is so slow, think that might be to do with my very basic router also though?
