Microsoft Office question
#1
Morning people.
Can any of you help with a question I've been asked about Office.
Pros and cons of Office 2000
Pros and cons of Office XP
I know this may sound really easy but I'm a networking person and haven't got a clue when it comes to apps.
Thanks for the help

I've no direct experience of organising rollouts, but have been the recipient user in several big rollouts (10000+ PCs at norwch union for one). All dished out Office 2K Pro.
Office XP is quite new and I would at least wait for service pack 1.
There may also be mail issues to bear in mind too.

Office XP now has service pack 1 available, I personally would go with Office 2K SP2 as there are issues with passwords etc.. in Office XP. Also the look of XP is totally different to previous versions, and is very much Web orientated. This may be an issue with Staff and training. Users don't normally like too much change too quickly !!
Hope this helps,
Darrell
P.S. I've been involved directly with rollouts and there's a lot more support available for Office 2K.

Office 2000 rolls out well via software delivery, we have just done 3000 PC's here and it's easy to control what options and packages within Office 2000 you allow the user to have due to licences ect.
XP on the other hand, good luck and may the force be with you.
Darren.

The blue or the red one??
We haven't even tested Office XP for rollout, only just finished on Office2k testing But so far Office2k is looking good for configuring and rolling out to desktops
