Default Larger capacity iPhone and iPod Touch

Apple has just released a 16GB iPhone and 32GB iPod Touch.
I'm still not impressed with the measly 16GB capacity of the iPhone, why didn't they have the Touch and iPhone as 32GB? Perhaps it's a size limitation, in that the cellular features in the iPhone take space away from what could be used for memory.
I
'd like to replace my current 4G iPod (upgraded to 60GB hard drive) with an iPhone, but 16GB isn't big enough, 32GB would be better, but still not perfect. I do not wish to have an iPhone and an iPod, and there shouldn't be a need for that due to the iPhone basically being an iPod with browser and phone capabilities. Maybe iPhone v2 will be ≥32GB

We may see the copying side of things open up when the SDK is released, as devs are going to need a legitimate way to copy to/from the iPhone.

Skype is an interesting one, simply because over WiFi you'd basically not be using a carrier plan, and we all know how the carriers love to take your money, so I can't see that happening "officially" as it were.

As it stands I'd have to pay $50 per month for a call and separate data plan for an iPhone, and as I don't use my current phone that much, it would not be good value for me, plus I'd have to hack it to work with Rogers, as we don't have an official provider here yet, and whilst I'm fully capable of doing that, it's just an extra step I don't really want to take. There is also the fact that I'd need to repeat this whenever a software update comes out.

3G? I've never been sure if I really need that, or actually how big it is over here. To me the mobile market over here is far, far behind the UK, and as such I'm not sure if 3G is used that much over here.

Skype is already available via a web site, although when I tried it on launch day I couldn't connect, voice and messaging apparently. Using the phone or touch as a drive is working also but I believe requires a reasonably simple hack.

Me, I have every photo I've ever taken digitally - well over 4,000 - more albums and books than I could ever listen to between syncs, three fully synced email accounts, various podcasts, video and audio... the list goes on and I still have a gig left of my eight.

Still a bit gutted that the 16gig is out so soon after my purchase though.

I see that AT&T in the US is going to expand it's 3G network this year......which IMO means that the 3G iPhone isn't that far away - 6 months I reckon.

Which is nice as that's about the time my current mobile contract runs out.

As for capacity, 8gb would be okay, 16gb good for me. I wouldn't want to pay more for than the current prices though. I think that £35 for 600 mins, 500 texts and 'unlimited' data is pretty good (relatively)

I want to replace my current PDA and phone with an iPhone. A better camera and the ability to edit Word/Excel docs is a must for that.

I also want GPS. I love Sat Nav, and combining sat nav with my phone is a primary reason for an upgrade. Until then the iphone is an expensive paperweight.

I don't believe we'll see GPS in an iPhone until V3 at least. That's a complete hunch based in size/battery life.

It would be great for me - with the other PDA features I could have 1 device to carry around. However, I would be quite happy to purchase a stand-alone TomTom device as long as I can add speed camera locations.

I do use my current PDA for sat nav but only for long journeys as I can't be bothered to spend 10 mins setting it up for short journeys.

Just had the email from apple regarding the 32gb itouch and instantly thought there'd be a bigger iphone on the market I'm still quite happy with my 1.1.1 version, although im not sure i want to jump ship from vodafone and get a new one on O2 when my contract runs out in april, i'd probably get enough for mine on ebay to pay for the new one though....

If GPS is anything to go by on the n95 i wouldn't bother for a while yet!
