I have win XP a sound blaster 5.1 card with the latest drivers.
I have just bought the Hewlett packard Theatre 5800 (5.1)speakers.
Now when I run the test as in "front left" "rear left" etc, the sound does not appear to come from the correct speaker.
I have checked the obvious like all the cables and they are fine. Is there anything else I can check?

I think there are some pecularites with the 5.1 single output on the SB cards. Its not a std digital out, but needs a particular cable and Speakers using a matching propietary 5.1 input ?
Or are you using the separate front (L&R) stereo output and rear (l&R) stereo output etc ?
Does it work with proper DD 5.1 Output from DVDs ?
The forums on the creative site may be able to help....

if its true 5.1 then there should be 6 cables. Was that XP o/s & a SB soundcard or a SB-XP soundcard?
There should be 3 sockets on the card, front, rear & Sub. In the sub these wires should split into left & right.
