Default updating a wii chip

can anyone help?

i tried asking at other "specialist" forums but no one can help me

i bought a 2nd hand wii with a chip in it from greece
its a pal machine and the firmware is 2.0e

i got some games which wants to do a system update, i switched my wii off to prevent it from doing it, incase it bricks it,.
NOT knowing what chip i got i tried dl the wiikey 1.9b and 1.9g updates
burnt them and tried updating the wii with either the discs.
however when it gets to 100% it fails.

Might have to open it and try to identify the chip visually. Have a look round this forum as well:

If it's wiifree there will be a 12f629 8 pin chip soldered in inside.

It needs to be removed to update. If it's the wiinja then it needs to be thrown away ( can't be updated ). The chips themselves are cheap anyway.

you then just need someone with a pic programmer
