Tell you what Daz, I'll go off and actually find out the information myself.

Ah, I see 1xDVD speed is the equivalent of 9x CD-Rom speed, which I would guess means DVD 1X = 2700KB/sec (yes sustained, approx, etc..)

Daz,

It means it will write a full 4.7gb DVD-R in 29 mins. Don't buy a dual speed writer, as 4x speed ones are due out Feb/Mar (Thats when i'm gonna get mine). If you want to know anything else on the matter email me off-line, as I have a feeling I know where you may be going with this one!!!

Regards,
Shaun.

Cheers Shaun.

I was checking on behalf of a friend who's looking to get one. As yes, I'll consult you about *you know what* when the time comes.

Bloody supply and demand.

I've been given a good contact in Hong Kong for NEO4 at very reasonable prices, although I'm still waiting to hear if they DEFINITELY have them in stock.

Then I'd just need someone to fit.

I'd prefer Messiah though. Channel Technologies forum is allegedly going back online again - I dunno what implications this has as to availability of the chip though. I was rather hoping that if they could legally produce the chip, they'd sell the blueprint to some far eastern company who could manufacture and distribute it for them under another name - come to think of it this COULD be what "GameSlayer" or "Origa" or "Elvis" are (all new modchips that have appeared recently apparently)

When a DVD writer is listed a 2x speed, what is this in comparison to a CD writer ?

If I remember, a CDWriter was something like 300KB/sec for 1x, so whats a DVD writer ?
