Default Virgin Media Question

Anyone got a Motorola Surfboard SB4100 who also knows whether you can get 20mb out of it.

Probably one for Pimmo sites says upgrade, but it also asks for money.

It's actually a free upgrade. It only costs £25 if you want them to send an engineer out to "install" it for you...

I personally think that 20MB is a huge ripoff, you can only use it for 20mins (3GB) at peak times (4-12pm) then your speed is cut to 5MB

I downgraded mine to the 4meg and cancelled my TV sub because of this.

Bully for you. I only tend to use mine during the day or overnight so it doesn't bother me . And besides, there's no alternative around here...

I tried the 10MB service last year some time and could only get 4-5MB at any time. When I called to downgrade back to 4MB I was told that my SB4100 wouldnt support the higher speeds.

Using peer to peer connections I have gotten 10mb out of the sb4100 for quite a sustained period, and thats with 100kbps going the other way as well. Not sure whether my account has been upgraded to 20mb yet though. I will try tomorrow afternoon before any shaping starts to kick-in and see what i can get from multiple torrent downloads with large seed / peer ratio's

I shouldn't hold your breath.

I've been upgraded to 20mb, got a new cable modem, and I'm still only getting around 4mb
