Wide Screen Game Monitors-Worth it?
Just about to buy a new monitor. Is wide screen the way to go for games? Are game developers going to make use of it? Anyone with knowledge on this?
Can't decide what to do and its holding me back from a purchase.
Thanks for any ideas....

Yes and Yes
More games support widescreen and even if not you can run in a window. Would not go back to standard now (run a dell 24" and 20" widescreen)
Dave.

When you can get a monitor as good as this: Samsung SM-226BW 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor - Glossy Black
I have one... how can you not buy a widescreen? Besides which; watching movies on this is amazing.

Thinking about getting a Dell 24" soon myself but ideally I need to upgrade the rest of my hardware to run at the native resolution. Still on a P4 3.2ghz and ATI 800XL, perfectly ok for windows applications, but not games like GTR2...

You can't go wrong with wide screens. Starting 2008, about 90% of the TFT's will be widescreen. Same goes for notebooks. I own a HP 24" TFT for working (mainly) on digital photos. Awesome hardware.

Just remember if you're sitting at a desk and buy a mahoosive screen it will make games harder work as your eyes will be darting around. If you're sitting at an average depth desk I'd say a 22" widescreen would be the max
