I use a laptop as my only computer these days.....have it wired at home to my 19" monitor and speakers etc...and also use a Microsoft Bluetooth Optical Mouse.....really nice to use, no wires etc
Ive been using it for quite a while (2+ years) and no problems (just remember to get some rechargable AA batteries and always have some spares charged)

I've got one of these for my laptop.
Logitech® V450 Laser Cordless Mouse for Notebooks
Cordless Mice > Logitech® V450 Laser Cordless Mouse for Notebooks
Wireless but not bluetooth. Dongle is pretty small though and slots in the base of the mouse when not in use.
Very pleased with it.

I think a lot of people prefer the retractable corded mice for travelling with as the batteries never run out. Personally that is my choice as I use my laptop alot out and about and its just easier to have one less thing to worry about.
