Default Torrent Speeds

Ok I understand that it depends on the ratios and all that but I can't get over 60kb on any torrents and you talking some high profile **** torrents with 1000's of seeders and 2 leechers !!

I have port forwarded through my router and increased from 15 - 60

Any other thoughts on an increase ?

I was told (honest) that if you go to the options preferances and connections (assuming using utorrent) and have a play with the max download and upload speeds - 0 is normally no limit, can get better transfer rates.

Not that I wold ever use torrent get music / **** / software from !!

use "utorrent"

Set your max upload speed to about 5k below what you can upload - most broadband users set it to 15kb

Your download speeds does depend on their upload speeds though.
I'm on a 1meg line using Azureus and normally get 30k p/s but sometimes on torrent that has few seeds i can get over 100k p/s

are you use's windows sp2 by any chance as that limits you download speed.
I was geting 50-60kbs before i put the tcp patch in now i get around 300kbs.

Have a read here SpeedGuide.net :: Windows XP SP2 you can also download the patch from there but if you dont want to hunt for it heres the link www.LvlLord.de - Tipps, Tricks & Utilities - Downloads

Having your ports stealthed slows down your connection speed with the BitTorrent client as well

The patch does not limit your connection speed - it limits the maximum number of concurrent connections your PC can connect to at any one time.
