Default PC ISSUE Hardware

Ok so when the power is turned on at the plug the hard drive kicks into life but with no picture on the screen. The power button doesnt work either, its on and off via the mains??

I've removed everything I can, cleaned all connections removed the motherboard from the case and removed and reconnected all the case wires ??????

Its doing my ****ing nut in now, it doesnt beep or anything just Proc fan comes on and the harddrive starts up... nothing on screen

Pimmo,

Do you want to tell us a bit more about this? Is this a new PC you are building or an old one with a problem?

Have you tried booting off a bootable OS CD to see what happens?

Pimmo,

If the CMOS battery is ok then its the motherboard.

Last time this happened to me there was a break in the circuit board near the cpu.

Nothing else to do but to go for a new board & chip.
