Question Hard drive utilities

Are there any hard drive utilities that check for data loss/sector losses etc which the m/s stuff doesnt pick up?
If so what are they and where can I get them from?

Thanks

Try a search for File Scavenger.exe

Depends what you are trying to achieve

Its my harddrive, sometimes it doesnt want to boot up and sometimes just runs slow, so done all the usual, virus checks, spyware and adware checks, ran m/s utilities and still has a problem so looking at seeing if there is another option to see if there is a sector/drive problem

Go to the manufacturer's site (Maxtor, Western Digital or whatever it is) as most offer free utilities designed for their own particular drives, and all are very good at diagnosis.

EDIT, made it a little easier....

Maxtor here

Western Digital here

Seagate here

Samsung here

IBM/Hitachi here

There you go, it's up to you to fix it though
