I'm looking options for low cost hosting for a forum for an alliance from an online game. (Existing phpbb forum, so I feel that something that could run that would be best).
Just wondered if anyone has any recommendations.
Free would be ideal (though I'm not keen on adverts), otherwise a small cost would be acceptable.
Any input appreciated (and especially sensible input
).
John.

This might be helpful. It's a link from the phpBB website.
If you have an existing website/domain, see if it supports php, SQL (if that's what you're using for the phpbb database, if not see if supports the database type you have) and ideally see if you have FTP access.
If I was going to suggest a host it would have to be Titan Internet. They can provide hosting, their WIN100 package would allow phpbb to run quite happily (I'm on this package and have used phpbb with a mysql backend, but it also has Access and ODBC support), plus you can also obtain a domain from them if you don't have one. It might not be free/cheap, but it makes up for it with the quality of service an reliability
