I was upgraded about 3 months ago now. Was a nightmare. Had constant synchronisation dropouts. Ended up solving the problem by using the test socket on the master socket and then finally by replacing with a proper ADSL faceplate on the master socket. Connection had been absolutely fine up until the upgrade. Thankfully all sorted now though. Only getting a steady connection at 3MB/s but that's due to our location in the semi-sticks. One of the online ADSL calculators reckoned we'd get a max of 1.5MB/s so quite happy with it at the moment.

GF has been upgraded and it seems fine - downloads are generally faster but of course, depend on dl server! No problems with connecting though Works all the time.

At Home, I haven't been upgraded yet, I have now requested an upgrade but haven't pushed for it too hard yet.

The upgrade process was a nightmare for me, involving threes weeks of constant disconnection that could do easily have been avoided had the LLU transfer not involved farming out the service to Tiscali. Now, any faults have to go through 2 customer service depts. It has been fixed now, but depite being faster (not by an amount you'd generally notice when visiting/downloading from most sites it has to be said) the modem looses synch with the exchange occassionally now, which NEVER happened when I was with the 2mb fixed line; my connection was flawless, as was my impression of Plusnet. Mu opinion of them has taken a big knock now though. I would have moved to Sky were it not for the fact that thanks to being on an LLU service, you can't just migrate via a MAC code, you have to order a cease and reprovide, which involves about a weeks downtime and I really can't be dealing with that right now.

Personally, if you're happy with your current connection, I wouldn't bother.

I was upgraded to MaxDSL on PlusNet some time ago. I haven't had any connectivity problems at all, although for the first month or so I seemed to be stuck on the same download speed as I had previously, i.e. 2Mbit. My upload speed had improved to about 440Kbit.
Eventually, PlusNet managed to get a BT engineer to check out my exchange where he found some problem with the line profiling software/firmware/hardware, and once that was given a kick up the backside, I got the 6.5Mbit download speeds that I have had ever since.

The MaxDSL upgrade is a completely seperate upgrade to the LLU unbundling. There have been issues with both "upgrades", but different issues for the different upgrades.

In that case, by all means upgrade, just don't let them switch you to LLU!!

Agreed. And if you haven't already been moved to an LLU connection, you can opt out here.

Been upgraded for about a month, first few days was ropey (although they do state that the connection will be unstable for the first week), no dicsonnections, just random speeds. After the first 3 days has been running like a dream, and am hitting about 6.5mbps.
