Hi guys. When i go to the google website, I can double click in the search field and it brings up everything I've ever searched for. Also if i start typing it will bring up everything beginning with that letter etc. Just wondered if there is a way of making it forget previous searches? I deleted all cookies a while ago but that didn't affect it. Any ideas?
I also have the google search toolbar which lets you clear the search history. But they still appear in the actual google website.

Its caches in the autocomplete directory.

Go to Control Panel, then internet properties, then click the CONTENT tab, then the autocomplete button, then the CLEAR fORMS button.

You can log into the service and then turn it off. They give you the option to clear your entire history. They also store bookmarks of sites you visit often. Quite scary that this is all stored. Anyway once you've logged in it's very clear on how to turn everything off.

Actually, what Fantom is saying is something completly different to what you are saying. Look at the top of google "Search History". You can only switch this off by signing up and disabling the feature. This has nothing to do with the control panel. I know this as I moved to a friends PC and logged in. All my previous History was there. Stored online. Crazy stuff.

What I was trying to say is that this is stored in 2 different locations now. 1 is actually within google "called personalized search". It appears when you sign up for 1 of their services. What you seem to be talking about is auto complete which is what you have now fixed. The other thing I am talking about is much worse than autocomplete. It stores EVERYTHING you do and lets other users of your computer see everything you have done and I mean everything. This is also stored by Google.!!!

I think you have to do a search on google itself to find out if you are afected by this. I was shocked when I clicked on a link on google 1 day and it showed all my data. This is a new google service.
