Replacement for Office Shortcut bar?

Just installed Office 2003 and it seems this no longer has the Office Shortcut bar. It suggests adding programs to the quick launch area, but I don't want to take up that space.

Are there any alternatives to the Office Short cut bar available?

Why not set up shortcuts to each program - such as "CTRL ALT + W" for word "CTRL ALT + E" for excel and so on ?
