Default Power Problems

I`m having problems with my new build pc with it taking at least 2 attempts to power up when you first switch it on, and it has just randomley shut down in the middle of something I thought A 500W pwer supply wuld be man enough for my spec as i`m not running sli.

Spec:

Seasonic s12 500w PSU
AMD 4400 x2 W/ Arctic cooling 64 pro HSF
sapphire Radeon x1900xt
1Gb Crucial Ballistx running 2-2-2-6 1t
LG DVD rom
Plextor 48 speed cd writer
Western digital Pata 80Gb hdd
Hitachi 160GB SATA HDD
Xi Fi Sound card
netgear Wireless card.

There are also around 4 case fans being powerd off the psu aswell.
but at the moment to keep the case tidy I have powered everything of the same molex string, this could be my problem but not sure, trying to draw o much off the same supply.

Jase.

Have you put the CPU heatsink/cooler on properly? Did this once with my INTEL shuttle. Luckily INTEL have the forsight to have a high temp shutoff control in the CPU to save it from frying.

You should be OK. I run 4 HDs plus a similar set up to you on a 350w PSU without problems. Try unplugging a few things to see if it powers on (ie, identufy the culprit)

What type of Graphics card do you have? ATi ones require extra power. Which I had to change my PSU to a higher wattage due to similar instances you're experiencing.

It`s A sapphire x1900xt. I have plugged in the extra connector at the back of the card. There is a molex connector on the M/B but that is only if you are running in sli mode. which I won`t be.

I've got the 9800xt pro (AGP). Noticed that when I disconnected and then re-connected the power connector the PC would power up. Not sure if this is the same issue you maybe facing...
